I'm as happy as a pig in heaven!

I love, love, love going into alchemy and making things. This has truly been a dream come true for me--to have all my "stuff" around me, and be able to actually find the things that I am looking for to make something precious out of nothing special. The class concept, however, doesn't seem to be working as well as I had hoped. I think once I finish with this session of workshops, I'm going to change the format. I'll post here samples of things I've made and/or things I want to try, and let people sign up for whatever it is that grabs their creative fancy. We can then set a mutually convenient time, and folks can either come in themselves or with a group of friends. We'll make it a party!

Using old socks and gloves that have lost their mate

Next week at alchemy, we'll be making sock and glove stuffed animals. I have gloves and socks available, but if you have an old favorite that has lost its mate, feel free to bring it along!

Felted Wool Creations

Next week at alchemy I'll be making hats and scarves out of felted wool. Some of the things I've been working on are available for purchase up the street at nest (622 High Street in Dedham). Please come by and join me--bring your favorite old sweaters which got shrunk in the wash by mistake, and we'll turn them into something precious.

Vintage button jewelry and hair accessories workshop

This workshop will be held on Monday October 8 and repeated on Friday, October 12 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Classes are limited to six people, so please call or email in advance to sign up. Drop-ins are welcome, space permitting. On Monday we will be making a button necklace. You can either bring your own buttons, or I have lots of buttons for sale--from the very inexpensive ($10 for enough mother of pearl buttons to create a 16" necklace) to the very expensive (Czechoslovanian glass with 18 karat gold dust). All other materials and tools needed will be furnished. The class fee is $20. The same class will be repeated on Friday, October 12. You should be able to complete the necklace in one class period. Bring lunch, bring a friend, bring your buttons (or not) and be prepared to make something precious out of nothing special!
